Welsh Dragon Centrepiece: Pride of Wales
Postcards from Wales as the Logo Sphere injected a nations pride into an event.
An exciting debut at the International Convention Centre Wales. A brand-new table centre illuminated an event for Taste Wales. A proud Welsh Dragon in the heart of our Logo Sphere Table Centre. It was a hit with guests, client, and venue alike. There is nothing more exciting that a combination of a new venue and centrepiece. It was such a buzz to these Welsh beauties illuminating the proceedings for the Taste Wales Awards.
In this blog we give you a closer look at the event and this new centrepiece to our range. We hope that it will be the first of many nation-centric centrepieces. Thanks to COP26, global awareness is a hot topic and it seems like a good time for companies to celebrate their global reach.
International Convention Centre Wales
We received the warmest of Welsh welcomes from the team at ICC Wales. It is always a thrill to decorate a new venue and the ICC was no exception. Our first time in this state-of-the-art event space, it is completely charming, surrounded by woodland, yet completely modern and fresh in design. The venue is a breath of fresh air, a world away from the dark exhibition arenas we are use to. The building is all glass and clean lines.
The UK’s newest events venue, its location is fantastically convenient for the world of conferencing. Minutes from the M4 and driving distance from two major train stations and two international airports. It has all the transport links you could wish for as an event planner. The magic of this venue is that it has all the charm of a rural spot with all the modern conveniences of a central location.
The ICC boasts impressive capabilities. A 4,000 sq. metre pillar-free exhibition hall, a 1,500-seat auditorium, versatile meeting rooms and an wealth networking spaces. This is the hottest venue in the UK right now and one you have got to visit!
WOW Event Hire
WOW Event Hire are no strangers to the ICC and kindly provided this opportunity to work at this exciting new venue. We have worked with Ben and his team for many years, and it’s been great to be back at in 2021. They have always championed Table Art and as a result we have seen our centrepieces illuminating events across Wales.
Keen to bring a strong Welsh theme to the event, WOW Event Hire tasked us with providing the perfect design for the Taste Wales Awards.
Logo Sphere
Their client wanted something intrinsically Welsh and you can ask for no better symbol than the Welsh Dragon. It was just a question of which centrepiece would translate the iconic beast best.
Not our first foray into Welsh centrepieces, we have previously adapted our Ice Melt designs to feature both the Dragon and Daffodil. Both were strong options for this event but we felt it was a good opportunity to bring something new to the fore, to match this new venue.
The Logo Sphere is a veritable chameleon when it comes to customisation and theming. The Orb can be decorated in all manner of ways but the etched logo is most effective. The beauty of etching is the way that it captures light. Which is why we opted for that method when looking at introducing the Dragon symbol. It’s a detailed design but one our CNC Machinist wasn’t afraid to replicate. With a bit of jiggery pokery, the design was drawn up and cut out. The event was for 75 tables so with such an ornate design, it did take a full day to cut out and preparation, but it was worth the effort!
The Event
The team arrived early afternoon and were greeted by Kieran and the team at WOW Event hire. They made quick work of the seventy-five table centres and were installed within the hour. As the ICC is predominately glass, the room was light and fresh and complimented the clear acrylic table centre. With such a light room, a vivid illumination would have been jarring. In partnership with the clean-cut surroundings, the client chose a subtle pink pastel colour. This added a warmth to the room.
The centrepieces made an impact from the moment guests walked into the room. Creating a focus to every table, the nights’ theme was immediately evident for all. The emblazoned dragons appeared to be floating across the room, highlighted in rose tones. The beauty of the glass walled room was the fact that the centrepieces reflected in mirror image.
World of Possibilities
Similarly, to the WOW event hire who do a lot of Welsh themed events, our Scottish Partners Blue Parrot Events are always looking to inject a touch of tartan and thistle. They have made the most of our Ice Melt and Lily Vase designs with Scottish-centric floral arrangements. Now with this Welsh design we have opened a World of possibilities and I am sure we will see a Scottish version in the coming weeks.
If you have an event where you want to represent teams from across different companies, how brilliant would it be to have the countries shown through the table centres? Do away with the tacky flags stuck around the table and create a beacon at the heart of every table.
Perhaps you have your own event coming up where you want to represent your country? Contact our team today and we will happily show you a custom Logo Sphere to suit.
