Travels with Table Art: Monte Carlo
We have the honour of travelling across the globe delivering events for our clients. In contrast to what looks to be travel free year, 2019 could be described as a jet setting one! From New York to Berlin, from Monte Carlo to Vegas, 2019 saw Table Art across the Globe.
MD Gary Martin attended a great many of these international events. However, the one at Monte-Carlo Sporting club can be described as a real highlight. Not only did it feature a new design, the Windsor Candelabra! Also a first-time venture to this venue and WOW did it not disappoint.
The Venue
Monte-Carlo Sporting club is often described as a legendary venue. The main event space given the elegant title of ‘Hall of Stars’. It is a fitting name for the mirrored spangled room. It is not just the mirrored walls that make the name a fitting tribute. The venue has played host to a star-spangled selection of artists. Those include the likes of Frank Sinatra, Joe Cocker, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner and Elton John. That kind of pedigree makes it a must see when visiting the city. Guests are always keen to attend soirees hosted here, knowing the history of the place. First established in 1974, it has gone onto be a shining example of the best venues that Monte Carlo has to offer.
With panoramic views over the bay, this is one of the most enchanting spaces in the city. The views enrich the atmosphere making it popular for the most prestigious of events. To have the opportunity to work here would have been exciting enough but with the chance to debut a new centrepiece- we felt beyond privileged.
Owing to their award-winning chefs, the catering service on offer here at the Monte-Carlo Sporting club is revered.
Travel
When we are booked for an event in Europe, we have two distinct approaches. The first is to ship the product out with the help of an external courier. Getting the products direct to site and following up with our own crew that fly in.
The alternative to this is where our team drive direct to the venue. Products packed and ready- the team travel straight to the venue. This is a popular choice when we are dressing events in France, Spain and Germany. Why? Well first and foremost it’s the fact that we can guarantee delivery of both product and crew. When we work with external couriers, we cannot always 100% guarantee arrival. Plus with crew coming in separately could mean potential issues with flight delays etc. To have absolute confidence, we like to drive direct. Certainly the case in this instance. With a van loaded to the gills with Full Moon and Windsor Candelabras, the team headed south.
“We worked with Table Art for the IR Magazine Awards – Europe at 8 Northumberland. They provided exploding confetti balloons and lower moon shaped table centrepieces. The room looked fantastic with the centrepieces and the DMX lighting complemented the AV lighting perfectly. The exploding confetti balloons added the ‘wow’ factor at the end of our event and I would highly recommend them for any awards show. The Team, led by MD Gary Martin and supported by our youngest team members Joe Martin and Jake Rheams. Do not let their age fool you, these fresh-faced fellas have more than a decade of experience combined here at Table Art. They are often the first to get great feedback from clients post event. The Table Art team love a group outing, especially events that are further afield. Loving the adventure, there is always a rush to be picked for an international event. How do we make such a difficult decision? MD Gary and Manager Clare carefully consider the best team for the job. Playing close attention to a sense of fairness, they do their upmost to make sure that everyone gets a chance to work abroad. Jake and Joe selected for the event, Gary and the guys took the best part of a day to reach Monte Carlo.
Once there, they took a well-earned rest at the hotel before the set up the following day. A nice moment of calm before the event, the guys took the opportunity to explore the bay. Taking with them a Windsor Candelabra, they did a quick photoshoot on the bay. They could not resist such a stunning backdrop.
The Event
Gary is a huge fan of programs such as ‘Race across the World’ and as such, often creates littles videos to send back to the head office. Above is an example of one such video when he completed set up at this Monte Carlo event. We love receiving these in the office. Firstly, it the thrill of seeing the hard work paid off. Seeing the centrepiece shine at an international event is always a thrill. Secondly, these videos give us a glimpse of the adventure. Yes, we may be filled with jealously that we aren’t also in this incredible venue with the bay of Monte Carlo in the background. BUT we know that in time, it will be our chance to travel abroad and bring reports back of our event.
With trestle style tables, the client wanted to have a distinct mix of the two table centres. Dressing the back of the room with the Full Moon table centre hire. They worked brilliantly at the rear of the venue. For those looking out towards the bay, the Full Moons didn’t take away from the view. They enhanced it. The front of the room, decorated with another popular choice from our Table Centre hire options, the Windsor Candelabras. The beauty of the Windsor is the appearance of floating candles. As the lights were dimmed in the room, a magical tone set, a cathedral like ambiance.
The event went until the early hours, with guests enchanted by the décor. Running DMX lighting from the AV desk, the lighting team partnered our centrepiece light beautifully with their own lighting design. Nothing too ‘Disco’, they kept the lighting subtle and played with pastel tones against the vivid blue backdrop.
